ZAKAT & SODAQAH
Zakat is a mandatory duty on all able Muslims who meet nisab values. There is no ambiguity as to the rate at which Zakat should be calculated; 2.5% of all net savings one possesses that is above the nisab value. Net savings is total maintained wealth for one lunar year before Zakat is due.
This foundation(An initiative of Ahlusunnah Wa Jammah Sango Ota) was birth as a result of the need to revive the culture of Zakat assessment , collection and distribution as well as providing a credible and responsive platform for Muslims willing and desirous of fulfilling their religious obligation of payment of Zakat, the third pillar of Islam and support(Sodaqah) by those whose money is not up to nisab .
Allah said: “The alms are only for the Fuqara’ (the poor), and Al-Masakin (the needy) and those employed to collect (the funds); and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allah’s Cause, and for the wayfarer (a traveler who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allah. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise.“ [Al-Quran 9:60]
“They ask you as to what they should spend. Say: Whatever wealth you spend, it is for the parents and the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, and whatever good you do, Allah surely knows it.“ [Al-Quran 2:215]
We are striving to help the poor overcome the suffering endured due to natural disasters and lack of life’s basic necessities.

“Do not treat the orphan with harshness, and do not chide the one who asks for help.” [The Qur’an (93:9-10)]
“Have you seen the one who denies my message? He is the one who drives away the orphan and does not exhort the feeding of the poor.” [The Qur’an (107:1-3)] the care of widows and orphans are collective responsibility
Join us in building for our brothers and our sisters, and indeed, for ourselves. “Whosoever shares in building a masjid for Allah, even if it is as small as a bird’s nest, Allah (S.W.T.) will build for him a house in Paradise.” (Ahmad)
